News & Press Releases Nuclear power plants made safer through a leading edge Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) tool
Nuclear power plant operation experience indicates that fires at NPPs may constitute a real and significant threat to nuclear safety. Large efforts have been spent internationally to fully understand and analyze the phenomenon of fire and its consequences at NPPs on one hand and to improve NPP design and regulatory requirements to fire safety as well as fire protection technology on the other hand. It is standard practice in many countries operating nuclear power plants to rely on a deterministic Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA). A FHA is performed to evaluate the consequences of potential fire hazards and to develop appropriate fire protection systems and features. When applied to the assessment of the existing facilities, the FHA can identify specific areas where levels of fire protection are inadequate and where corrective measures are necessary and provide a technical justification for any deviations from the recommended practices for which no corrective measures are taken. The IOS software platform delivers complete, accurate and consistent data & documents to internal and external actors involved in the fire protection activities of a nuclear plant.

Yes, we are Belgian application software provider, but besides a server license, we also offer the IOS software as a SAAS solution. SAAS (Software as a Service) is an online service, where IOS International provides the installation, maintenance and administration. A user can login through the internet and access the platform in a secured way. This SAAS has proven his advantages as we did projects outside of Europe. We are now -for example- finalizing a project in Algeria for an important Algerian petrochemical jointventure company. IOS International works for this project together with CEMAC (specialist in Emergency Planning) and BTH Consult (Algerian Engineering company active in risk analysis). The main purpose of the project is to revise and update the existing emergency plan so that it complies with the recently published Algerian directive related to high risks. The plan will be elaborated and delivered using the IOS software platform through a SAAS subscription. For the Port of Brussels, we have also created an emergency plan, with our IOS Publisher software solution. All data are centralised and available on the spot when there is an emergency.
These are only a few examples of the many solutions that IOS International delivers with his IOS software solution in combination with a diverse range of services. We focus on the digitization, control, structuring and updating of very specific content, i.e. all data related to a physical asset, with an in-house developed flexible data platform with extensive query and reporting functionalities. IOS International exposed at the first edition of XPO 112, the trade fair for for emergency services and disaster response units (26-27-28/04/07 at the Kortrijk XPO). IOS International has realised the following interesting projects for Carrefour Belgium : the hypermarkets of Carrefour Belgium use the IOS V2 Fire & Intrusion software to make an inventory and reports for fire prevention and intrusion prevention, and IOS Publisher SEPP for emergency planning is the latest project. As IOS International is interested to further expand in the retail sector, Carrefour has offered their place in the important "Retail loss prevention & security Europe 2007" conference and expo (25-26/04/2007 in Berlin) to IOS International. Berlin brochure By doing so IOS International was able to reach the top retail in Europe and explain the possibilities of IOS and IOS Publisher SEPP and also the implementation and realisation of these applications at Carrefour Belgium. IOS International exposed for the tirdth year in a row at the Secura fair (also in 2003 and 2005). Secura stands for the largest meeting point for the security and safety platform in Belgium. For the 2007 edition (28-29-30/03/07 at the Brussels Expo), we shared a stand with our partner Vidyas. The seventh edition (april 2007) of the Fire Forum Magazine (FFM) has spend a two-page centerfold article on IOS and the I 5 steps "Information on the spot".
